Refund Policy
Aparte Cancellation & Refund Policy
At Aparte, we understand that plans can change. Our cancellation and refund policy is designed to provide clarity and fairness for both guests and hosts. Generally, cancellations are governed by the cancellation policy set by each host. However, in rare and significant cases where external events make it impossible or illegal to complete a reservation, Aparte’s Major Disruptive Events Policy may apply. This policy applies to all bookings made through the Aparte platform and outlines when guests may receive refunds or credits, and when hosts may cancel without penalties.
Please read our cancellation policy carefully.

Standard Cancellation Policies
Each property on Aparte comes with a host-defined cancellation policy, which may fall into one of the following:
- Flexible: Free cancellation up to 24 hours before check-in.
- Moderate: Free cancellation up to 5 days before check-in.
- Strict: Free cancellation up to 14 days before check-in.
The specific cancellation terms for each listing are displayed during booking and in your confirmation email.
Major Disruptive Events Policy
In the event of extraordinary, large-scale disruptions that occur after a reservation is booked and directly affect the booking location, Aparte may override the host’s standard cancellation policy to protect both parties.
Events Covered Include:
- Declared public health emergencies or epidemics (excluding common illnesses or endemic diseases).
- Government-issued travel restrictions such as lockdowns or mandatory evacuations (not including travel advisories or recommendations).
- Acts of war, civil unrest, or terrorism that disrupt normal activity in the booking area.
- Major utility outages (electricity, water, etc.) that affect the property and surrounding area.
- Unforeseeable natural disasters like earthquakes, tsunamis, or severe weather events (excluding expected seasonal conditions like rain or harmattan).
If an Event Is Covered:
- Guests may receive a full refund, travel credit, or an option to reschedule.
- Hosts may cancel without penalties, though affected dates will be blocked on their calendar.
- Aparte will notify affected users and apply the policy based on real-time impact and location.
What Is Not Covered:
The following situations are not covered under the Major Disruptive Events Policy, and the reservation will follow the host’s standard cancellation terms:
- Guest illness, injury, or personal issues
- Transportation disruptions (e.g., flight delays, road closures)
- Cancelled events (e.g., concerts, weddings)
- Non-binding travel warnings or guidance
- Seasonal or predictable weather patterns (e.g., rain during rainy season)
For such cases, guests are encouraged to reach out to their host directly to request changes, rescheduling, or partial refunds. Hosts are not obligated to approve, but Aparte supports open communication between both parties.
Host Guidelines for Cancellations:
- Hosts must cancel a booking if the property is uninhabitable or misrepresented.
- Cancellations due to major issues (plumbing failure, property damage, etc.) must be reported immediately.
- Cancellations covered under the Major Disruptive Events Policy will not result in penalties, but the calendar will be blocked for those dates.
- If a payout has already been made for a reservation canceled under this policy, it will be deducted from the host’s next payout(s).
Your Rights
This policy does not replace or override any rights you may have under local consumer protection laws.
